Sushi! Now I crave for it lol! Especially Sushi+Salmon =O
At sushi bars I end up sitting at the far end of the table (the sushi plates come in a 'escalater' type thing) where I can grab the salmon sushi plates before the other customers lol! When wifey is around she pinches me for doing that though =( as it's "inconsiderate", pffft, I consider it smart xD

Is it a sushi boat place where there is a moat with plates of sushi floating by on boats? Those are cute, but there's something about not knowing how long the sushi has been sitting there on a boat that puts me off. Sushi is only one aspect of Japanese cuisine.

Nah its not a sushi boat place, those are pricey - not for the stingy (like me xD)! It was a moving platform where the plates rotate around the bar. And you should be able to taste if its off btw.
Heh I rarely order other dishes either then sushi when I go Japanese. I love my sushi. In fact, there was a small little joint at the city once where they sold sushi wrapped around like an icecream. It was great! $5 each though if I remember, was years ago.
One thing to note though, at least here in Australia, Japanese food generally tends to be 2x the price and half the feed. So it's more of a once-in-a-while thing whenever me and my family can eat out.

One thing to note though, at least here in Australia, Japanese food generally tends to be 2x the price and half the feed. So it's more of a once-in-a-while thing whenever me and my family can eat out. It's the same case in Turkey as well. Normally, especially Chinese food is ment to be a fast and cheap thing, but in Turkey Chinese and Japanese restaurants are usually high-class expensive places.

hehe, yeah japanese tends to be expensive, but I am rather surprised that chinese food is expensive, because there are those china box fast food changes that offers cheap dishes, but there are also expensive chinese resturangs, but they are resturangs and not china boxes.

All the Chinese restaurants here are cheap, and not fast food lol. Perhaps its just the competition. There's 4 Chinese restaurants alone here on the street I work, 2 Thai, 3 Kebab shops, 5 cafes, and 3 pubs (now 2, one closed down). Missing Vietnamese noodle houses actually.
Japanese restaurants are rarer - thus I guess that's why Japanese food is the most pricey here. I always thought that they charge for their 'presentation' as well. A Korean restaurant I frequented in the past also sold some Japanese food but for a much more fair price however -> For example, Teriyaki for $9 and they include Miso Soup, Tea, and free 3 bowls of kimchi with every order (very good business they have). And the wait isn't very long despite busy times.
Competition... that's why when my suppliers charge more for my ingredients I can't raise my prices at work. It's annoying. But I guess it's different in Turkey heh.

Sushi is awesome, though I have been to Japan multiple times and the best sushi ever is still in Princeton, New Jersey at a place called Ajihei.
Sushi isnt really a typical Japanese food though, Soba noodles are common for lunch (cold buckwheat noodles) and things like terriyaka, yakitori (grilled meats in spiced salts) and sukiyaki (kind of like a do-it-yourself beef stew) are more typical staples.
