I think its the roman empire, I mean since the 7 hills to the fall of constaninople, or are there anyone else thathas beenruling longer,or it depends on how u judge the question. I mean if u say longest surviving people than the indians and chinese comes into mind, also indo-european people are pretty old,

there actually used to be an assassination attempt on the Pope in the 80s, which led to the introduction of the Popemobile in the first place.

And that was made by Mehmet Ali Ağca, a rightist Turkish terrorist who murdered Abdi İpekçi (a famous Turkish journalist), got arrested but later managed to escape and go to Italy, where he tried to shoot Pope John Paul II. The guy was probably mentally instable, as he later claimed to be the Messiah ;D
