Our Manduhai Tsetsen Hatan=(Wise Queen Manduhai) described with 2 breast defenses -small pot like.
If a man is wearing something like it, it surely look gay. ;D

Ha haha ha bogeymen! they dont scare me :P ;D!
I guess the kidney protectors are there becuase they are just total whimps, they fear an unarmmed nomad might punch ten kinds of hell out of them! 8-) Ok seriously i think they wore those to stop thier own swords bashing into them when riding or running. If you ever wear a long sword into battle for a long time and intend to move around you will find yourself plagued with bruises, a lot of the time you cant hold your sword away from your body either becuase youre busy hoding a shield with your other hand or something. Worst case scenario is you trip over your own sword! That said even i cant excuse thier breast protectors! Why wear them i once got caught in razor wire and i got shredded across the chest and arms, but apart from the scars i still have, i wasn't bothered too much! Anyway stab wounds are always worse than slashes. I only slash at heads and throats aim for the eyes no man will stand for that! for the body you should always stab becuase the point will beat the edge! Oh if you find your sword gets stuck into your foe just kick him off it! Remember to push down with your leg while you pull up on the blade sharply! avoid the splashing blood spurts and find your next victim. Howling and growling are optional. OK now that i have scared you all you will see, i hope just how pointless chinese medieval/dark ages armour was.
That said i dont wont to offend any chinese so i'll say that the ancient armour of the Chin dynasty i:e that of the terrecota warriors was actually very good quality they even had stone segmented armour! The thing with the Chin army was that it didn't waste time with pointless decorations, they had decent armour which they mass produced and thus created a type of uniform which worked! later chinese armies were all feudal based again and they wore armour like status symbols rather than seriously. Mongol armour on the other hand could be used offensively becuase many helmets had spikes and blades, something which the supposedly civilised chinese later adopted copycats! ;) :D

Old Russian Wariorrs are nearly same with Turco-Mongol Nomads. Thanks for the pictures, Mwe.

Thanx for the share, they are very nice (as usual) :)

The Turkic-Steppe influence is easily visible.
