Guys on the second picture seems to be wearing "budenovka" hats. Typical (mostly cavalry) military hats of the Red Army during the Civil law. Perhaps those belong to the unit of MPR Army trained by the Soviet Russia.

yeah the hats made me conspicious about them being Communists, but the Budenovka headgear is heavily inspired by Central Asian heager anyways, so you'll never know.

I have great interest on what happened between 1908 (when Manchus tried to colonise Mongolia) till 1937 (when USSR took definetively the power and started the massive purgues). It seems there were a kind of many little wars inside the country!
